Topsy Ojo – London Irish

After 10 years of loyal service to London Irish, Topsy Ojo is not only one of the crowd’s favourites – with chants of his name filling the Madejski Stadium whenever he scores – but also a great ambassador for the Club and the game of rugby itself.

After joining the London Irish Academy in July 2003, Topsy made his first team debut against London Wasps in October 2005. He has gone on to become an established member of the London Irish backline and the club’s record try scorer. Along the most memorable were his try against Toulouse in the Heineken Cup semi-final at Twickenham in 2008 and his intercept try against Munster in the home victory over the Irish province in the 2010/11 Heineken Cup.

Topsy made his full international debut during England’s 2008 summer tour to New Zealand, scoring two tries on his debut in the first Test and retained his starting berth in the second Test match.

The Topsy Ojo Testimonial Committee has chosen Restart, VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) and The African Child Trust to benefit from a programme of fundraising events, including:

Sat 17 May 2014, Farewell to The Avenue – a Celebration

At the end of the current season, London Irish will say goodbye to The Avenue, Sunbury-upon-Thames, and move to a new training centre at Hazelwood, one mile away. To mark their 76 years at the ground, and to coincide with Topsy’s Testimonial Year, the club is planning a day of rugby and celebration. The event will also acknowledge the exceptional service of another special player, Declan Danaher, who retired this year.

11.30am: Gates open
