Josh Ovens

Josh Ovens

Flanker, Josh Ovens, had been with Bath Rugby for his entire career until a back injury in 2013 led to his contract being terminated. Josh underwent microdiscectomy surgery on his lower back and subsequently suffered with nerve problems that affected his right leg, leaving him unable to walk.

Restart helped Josh with intensive specialist physiotherapy treatment and paid for sessions on an AlterG anti-gravity treadmill to help strengthen his legs. He is now training with Bristol, where he was previously on loan from Bath, and is working hard to regain his fitness.

Working in a team environment again has given Josh the boost he needed to persevere with his recovery: “I had never had a big injury before, so it was pretty shocking for me. I’m taking it one month at a time for now. There is still a lot of hard work to do, but I’m getting there.”
