Scott Hobson

In 2010, promising young Bath Rugby lock, Scott Hobson, suffered a serious shoulder injury that left him unable to move his arm. He underwent surgery to repair nerve damage and began a long-term rehabilitation programme with the hope of eventually returning to the game.

During this time, Restart Rugby supported Scott’s rehabilitation by providing an automatic car to help him travel independently to Bath’s training ground, where he carried out his treatment and continued to support the team by helping with coaching and video analysis.

Scott showed huge determination and commitment to his rehabilitation, but in 2012 he was forced to take medical advice and retire from the game aged just 24. Following his retirement, Restart Rugby also supported Scott with an education grant enabling him to study for a Certificate in coaching rugby in schools and a Sports Performance Degree at Bath University.

“It was an incredibly difficult time for me, especially not knowing whether I would be able to play again during the early months of my rehab.”
