Tyson Keats

Tyson Keats

London Welsh scrum half, Tyson Keats, was between contracts when a shoulder injury in the gym threatened to bring his professional rugby career to an end. Having been released from Welsh at the end of the 2012-13 season, he was pursuing a new club contract when the injury happened.

Because he is a New Zealand national, Tyson was not eligible to receive treatment on the NHS. Restart paid for a referral to a specialist consultant, who recommended immediate surgery if he was to have any chance of regaining his fitness in time to secure a 2013-14 contract.

Restart covered the cost of surgery and also paid for follow-up physiotherapy treatment to help Tyson get back to full fitness. He went on to make a complete recovery and was re-signed by London Welsh in March 2014.
