Maggie Alphonsi supports Restart Rugby Weekend

April 13th, 2016

Since retiring from rugby in 2015, Maggie Alphonsi has propelled her post-rugby career forward in superb fashion.

The England World Cup winning flanker and Saracens’ Premiership winner, has been a regular on our television screens, featuring as a rugby pundit throughout the World Cup, RBS 6 Nations and the Aviva Premiership.

However the 32-year-old says none of this would have been possible without the support of Restart Rugby, the Official Charity of The Rugby Players’ Association.

“The charity helped me obtain an education grant which allowed me to undertake a course in project management. While my sights are currently set on my punditry, I’m also incredibly interested in furthering my career in the area of project management, and this grant has allowed me to do that.

“Restart Rugby has been fundamental in giving me guidance and support and allowed me to upskill myself, while also helping me make the smooth transition into television.”

With the second annual Restart Rugby Weekend only two days away (15th-17th April), Maggie has encouraged all rugby fans, clubs and players to eclipse last year’s support and help make this weekend the biggest and best yet.

“Restart Rugby Weekend is a huge opportunity to raise awareness around the fantastic work the charity does. Obviously in the rugby community we all know how important Restart Rugby is, but it’s about raising the awareness to an even greater level.

“Restart Rugby supports all areas of player welfare, and has also recently started working in the community with the launch of Urban Rugby Squad, which has allowed the charity to form a strong partnership with Premiership Rugby and help young people in our communities.”

“I am very proud to be supporting Restart Rugby, it’s a fantastic charity, so please help make Restart Rugby Weekend the biggest and best weekend of the Aviva Premiership!”
