Restart Rugby benefits from RPA Players’ Awards

May 19th, 2015

The Rugby Players’ Association (RPA) staged the 17th Annual RPA Players’ Awards at Battersea Evolution in London last week.

The prestigious central London event played host to some of the biggest names in the game and honoured the outstanding achievements of the season so far, as well as raising over £130,000 for Restart Rugby, the official charity of the Rugby Players’ Association.

The funds raised at this annual event are crucial to the work of Restart Rugby, which was established in 2001 to support professional players who have suffered serious injury, illness or hardship.

RPA Group CEO, Damian Hopley, said: “On behalf of everyone at the RPA and Restart Rugby I would like to thank all those who attended the RPA Players’ Awards 2015 and for their incredible support of such a worthy cause. The money raised on the night will help to continue the outstanding work Restart Rugby is doing with players both past and present.”

Since its inception Restart Rugby has spent over £800,000, helping over 250 players. Money raised on the night will not only go towards helping injured and retired players, but also provide educational support for those transitioning into life after rugby, as well as providing a 24 hour confidential counselling service for RPA members.
